Throughout the past year, many instructors have developed  new and innovate ways to assess student learning without using timed exams. The CEA strongly encourages instructors and departments to continue this practice, following the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). While UDL does not eliminate the need for accommodations, it can create a more accessible and inclusive educational experience for all students while also reducing the administrative tasks involved with facilitating accommodations.

CEA Test Center Staff welcome opportunities to collaborate with faculty and academic departments in identifying assessment strategies or in-department proctoring options. Please do not hesitate to contact our office via e-mail (ceatest@uark.edu) or phone (479-575-2695) to discuss how accommodations can be facilitated in your course(s). For updates to procedures and processes within the CEA Test center, see below.

2021-2022 Operational Changes for CEA Test Center:

The CEA Test Center operates in accordance with APS 1520.20  to assist faculty in facilitating complex test accommodations (ex: assistive software) for in-class exams. Faculty are responsible for making arrangements for facilitating standard accommodations such as extended time, distraction-reduced testing environment, brief breaks, etc. within their department. If space is not available within the department, faculty are encouraged to contact the CEA Test Center for assistance.
